Whether it’s carnival, Halloween or a child’s birthday party – the tiger is one of the most popular costumes. How to make your face look like a tiger’s with just three colours, we show you in our step-by-step instructions.

Make up a tiger for carnival: simple instructions

To make yourself up as a tiger, you will need yellow, black and white make-up paint. The easiest way to apply this is with a dampened sponge. To apply the tiger’s stripes, use a brush and black make-up colour or a black eyeliner pencil.

  • Start by priming the face yellow. Leave the eyes and mouth uncovered and then paint a large area of white
  • Start by priming the face in yellow.
  • The nose and the mouth of the tiger get a black colour. Be careful not to make the nose too big. For the mouth, you should only paint the upper lip, similar to a triangle. Connect the tip of the triangle to the nose with a thin black line.
  • You can be creative when designing the black tiger stripes. You can either paint the forehead or the cheeks. Stripes on the chin are also possible. It tends to look nicer if only the yellow areas are decorated with stripes.
  • Remember that the stripes on a tiger are arranged quite symmetrically. However, it does not have to be completely exact, because that is usually not the case in nature either.
  • Finally, you can frame the white areas around the eyes with black paint and draw a few (suggested) whiskers around the mouth.
