Who has visited my Facebook profile – can you see that?

by Johannes

“Who has visited my Facebook profile?” is probably the most common question asked by curious social network users. For this reason, there are a number of offers that supposedly show you the last visitors. In this practical tip, we show you what’s behind it.

Facebook: You can’t find out who has visited your profile

There are many tools that supposedly allow you to see the last visitors to your Facebook profile. You should be very careful when you come across such offers. Most of the time, scammers or fun programmes are hiding behind them. Facebook does not have such a profile viewer.

  • However, there are some links on social networks that promise you such a profile viewer. If you click on it, you will be redirected to a new page. There you have to share the page and will be redirected again.
  • During the many redirects and confirmations, you also agree to the fraudster receiving your so-called “access token”. This gives them the authority to post on Facebook in your name.
  • This also gives rise to the many posts on Facebook recommending a profile viewer to you.
  • You will then receive a pixelated list of people. These are supposed to be your most recent profile visitors. But if you want to know the details, you end up on dubious voucher and sweepstake pages.

Consumer protection: Apps for profile visitors are rip-offs

Many consumer protectors warn against the rip-off. This scam is currently circulating on Facebook and is widespread. You should not click on such links under any circumstances. There is currently no way to view Facebook profile visitors.

If you have already clicked on such a link, you should change your Facebook password immediately.
You should also check your computer for viruses. You can do this, for example, with anti-virus software or Malwarebytes.
It is best to warn your Facebook friends about the rip-off. That way, your friends won’t fall for the Internet scammers’ scam too.))

Find out Facebook profile visitors with page source code: What’s behind it?

On the Internet, many Facebook users come across a method that supposedly allows them to find out the last Facebook profile visitors with the page source code. However, there is no profile viewer behind this method. You can only use it to find out who you chatted with last. Therefore, in most cases, it is not surprising that you will come across your Facebook friends. The method works as follows:

  • Log in to Facebook and open your profile. Then right-click on the white page border and select “Show page source text”. Alternatively, you can press [Ctrl] + [U].
  • Then open the search field with [Ctrl] + [F] and enter “InitialChatFriendsList” there. Confirm with Enter.
  • Then copy any sequence of digits up to the hyphen. Open a new tab, type “www.facebook.com/” without the inverted commas. Paste the numbers directly after the slash and press [Enter].
  • Now a profile of your friend opens. However, this is not the person who last viewed your profile, but a person who sent you a message. You can already tell this from the search entry “InitialChatFriendsList”.
  • Tip: By the way, the whole thing only works if you are logged in. You cannot use this function to find out who your friends or strangers are in contact with. To do this, they would have to log in.
