Editing PDF on the iPhone: This is how it works

by Michaela

There are several apps that make it easy to edit PDF files on your iPhone. Based on your needs, you need to decide which of the apps is best for you personally

This is how you edit your PDF on your iPhone

There are several different apps you can use to edit PDFs on your iPhone.

  • PDF-Expert: With the app PDF-Expert you can easily edit PDF documents on your iPhone. Besides text, you can also insert images, censor some parts, add links, create outlines and much more. You can also scan paper documents and then edit the text. The app has a free trial of 7 days and then costs €9.99 per month.
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader: Acrobat Reader is probably the most well-known PDF software. In contrast to the app PDF-Expert, Acrobat Reader is available in a permanently free version as well as in a paid version. Free of charge, you can read, fill in and sign documents. If you want to edit the text or add images, you have to use the paid version. You can use this from 10.99 € per month.
  • Foxit: Similar to Acrobat Reader, this app is also divided into a free version (Foxit Reader), with which you can read, fill and sign documents, and a paid part (Foxit PDF Editor), with which you can make changes to the PDF file. The paid version is available from €11.49.

Writing PDF files with GoodNotes

If you don’t want to change PDF files fundamentally, but want to fill them with annotations, GoodNotes is very suitable.

  • In addition to the version for the iPhone, you can also use the app for your iPad.
  • Using the Apple Pencil, you can then add your own notes to the PDF files (as you would otherwise do by handwriting).
  • You can also add new pages. It is also possible to save specific pages as an extra PDF.
