How to use the Threads app on your smartphone
Although Threads was initially not available in Germany after its launch due to data protection concerns, the alternative to X or Twitter can now be used in this country without any problems. This also applies to the app, which is available for both Android and iOS.
- Download the app for your smartphone with Android or iOS
- After starting the app, you have a choice: you can use Threads with or without a user account. Simply select the desired option
- Tap Continue with Instagram. You will now be prompted to log in with your Instagram account credentials.
- When you log in to Threads for the first time, a personal user profile will be created that is closely linked to your Instagram account.
- If you decide to use Without Profile, you can see posts published by other users even without logging in. However, you will not be able to create your own content or reply to existing messages
Using threads on your smartphone without an app
You can also use Threads on your smartphone without the official app.
- Open any web browser on your smartphone or tablet and go to https://www.threads.net.
- Just like in the official app, you can now access threads and read published content without a profile or log in with your Instagram account and publish messages yourself.
