You should definitely watch the “Resident Evil” films in the correct order. This is because some of the storylines build on each other

1 This is what part one in the order of the “Resident Evil” films is about

  • After an incident occurs in the Umbrella Corporation’s secret underground research laboratory, a deadly virus escapes. As if this T-virus wasn’t mischief enough, all employees are automatically killed by an artificial intelligence using gas. However, they do not rest in peace, but awaken as vicious zombies. A special squad from the Corporation tries to both stop the virus and escape the zombies. With them is Alice, a woman with amnesia. The movie was released in 2002.

2. Resident Evil: Apocalypse

  • Part two of the series is all about Alice. She is a woman who has been abused by the Umbrella Corporation for genetic manipulation. The experiments sharpened her senses and Alice also became much more physically powerful. So she manages to escape. She meets policewoman Jill Valentine and tries to flee the city with her. As the town is still teeming with zombies, this is no easy task. This film was released in 2004.

3. Resident Evil: Extinction

  • In the third installment of the Resident Evil film series, the fictional city of Raccoon City, where the secret research laboratory was located, is completely destroyed. The last survivors, including Alice, make their way through the Mojave Desert to reach Alaska. Alice now also has telekinetic abilities, although she has no real control over them. As the scientists see Alice’s genetic structure as a weapon against the T-virus, they try to capture their former test victim. But she manages to escape. This part was published in 2007.

4. Resident Evil: Afterlife

  • The Umbrella Corporation’s experiments have created several clones of Alice. These destroy the headquarters of the Umbrella Corporation in Tokyo, which has now lost its supernatural powers. She makes her way to Arcadia, supposedly the only safe place left. But once there, Alice only finds Claire, who is suffering from memory loss. Together, the two women travel to Los Angeles, where they learn that Arcadia was not the city, but a ship. In the end, they manage to get onto the ship. The film was released in 2010.

5. Resident Evil: Retribution

  • The Arcadia comes under fire from the Umbrella Corporation and suffers massive damage. During this battle, there is a violent explosion which causes Alice to fall into a coma. When she wakes up, she finds herself in an illusory world in which the Corporation’s researchers have recreated various scenarios. Alice supposedly fights her way through Tokyo and Moscow. This staging is intended to make the T-virus appealing to potential buyers. However, a rescue team manages to free Alice from the clutches of the Corporation. The film was released in cinemas in 2012.

6. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter

  • Alice is captured while trying to find an antidote to the T-virus. But she manages to escape. Together with other survivors, she fights against the many zombies in Raccoon City to find a cure. Alice finally manages to break into the underground research laboratory. When one of the scientists tries to escape with the cure, he is seriously injured and Alice manages to bring the antidote to the surface to release it there. As a result, all the zombies die. Although Alice herself was also infected with the virus, she survives the process. This last part of the film series was released in 2016.
