With RTL+ (formerly TVNow) Couchparty, you have the opportunity to watch programmes together with other people, even if you do not live in the same household. The prerequisite for use is a Premium or Premium Duo Account.
Create and start RTL+ (formerly TVnow) Couchparty
After the streaming portal TVnow was renamed RTL+, the couch party is in the beta phase (as of December 2021). Therefore, you can currently only use this function in the web browser. Chatting is not possible at the moment.
- First log in to your RTL+ customer account.
- Search for the programme you want on the website.
- In the next step, click on the “Couch Party” button.
- In the pop-up window that now opens, you will get a link that you copy to the clipboard.
- Pass this link on to the persons with whom you would like to hold the couch party. The party is limited to a maximum of 10 participants.
- To start the couch party, navigate to “To Couch Party ☻ Enter Room”.
- As soon as participants dial in, they will be displayed in a list. Start the party by clicking on “Play” and watch the selected stream together.

You, as the host of the party, are recognisable to the participants by a play symbol next to your name. Only you can stop, pause or rewind the stream to another location.
- Good to know: If your profile or a profile of the participants is in “parental control” mode, it is not possible to start a couch party or participate in a couch party.
Watch a couch party as a participant.
To take part in a couch party, the free account with RTL+ is not enough. You must have booked the Premium or Premium Duo tariff.
- Log in to your customer account and then click on the link you have received.
- Click on “Join room” and, if the player does not already start automatically, also on “Play”.
- Good to know: If the stream does not start even after you click on “Play”, you will have to wait until the creator of the couch party starts the stream.
