If a new version of DirectX is available, you should definitely update the tool. We’ll show you how to do it.
Updating DirectX – Here’s How
In Windows 10, you no longer need to update DirectX manually. The graphics interface is now an integral part of Windows. As soon as a new version of DirectX is available, it is automatically installed via Windows Update. This means there is no longer a way to update DirectX manually. If you are still using an older version of Windows, such as Windows XP, 7, or 8, you can still update DirectX manually.
- Open the following link to download the DirectX Web Installer .
- Click the “Download” button on the right to start the download.
- Now launch the downloaded installation file. First, accept the terms and conditions and click “Next”.
- Uncheck the box next to the “Install Bing Bar” option and click “Next”.
- The installer will now check for updates for your version of DirectX. If an update is found, click the “Next” button; otherwise, you can exit the program.
- The download and installation of DirectX will then begin. You do not need to do anything else. At the end of the process, you will be notified that the installation was successful.
DirectX: What exactly is it?
- DirectX provides an interface between the Windows operating system, PC hardware, and game software.
- When a game developer creates a new PC game, DirectX ensures they don’t have to worry about compatibility with the various graphics cards, mice, sound cards, and other PC components available.
- The manufacturers of this hardware already ensure that their components support DirectX. By using DirectX during game development, all standard hardware is automatically compatible.
