System error 67 has occurred: How to fix the problem

by Pramith

When system error 67 occurs on Windows, you get an error message that the network name was not found. There are two ways to fix the problem

How to troubleshoot system error 67

System error 67 occurs in the context of Windows servers and is either due to misconfigured network components on the domain controller, outdated network drivers or incompatible drivers for Windows Server 2003.

  • One possible source of error is an outdated network adapter driver. You can download the latest version for Windows Server 2012 from the Intel page. After downloading, follow the instructions after executing the file. To unpack the zip file, use e.g. the programme 7-Zip.
  • If you have updated the driver and the problem persists, it may be due to incorrectly configured network components. In this case, you need to disable the NAT driver. NAT stands for “Network Address Translation” and is roughly summarised as being there to process, forward or prevent incoming connection requests.
  • To deactivate the driver, first click on Start. Then right-click on My Computer and in the context menu click on Properties. Now click on Device Manager under Hardware. In the Device Manager you should now see View. Click on Show hidden devices, which should now show the IP network address translator driver under the Plug & Play option.
  • Right-click on the driver and select Disable. In the menu that opens, click twice on the Yes button. Now the PC should restart and the problem should be solved.
