To share YouTube videos on Instagram, you have various options. The easiest way is to use the link to the corresponding video. It is more difficult to embed the video directly in the feed. In this practical tip, we will introduce you to the various options in more detail.
Share YouTube videos on Instagram: via link
You can share a link to a YouTube video directly on Instagram without any detours. You can do this via direct messaging, for example.
- Tap on “Share” and then select the button with the Instagram logo and the signature “Direct”.
- The Instagram app will open and you can select the contact you want to send the link to.
- If you want to share the YouTube video in your Instagram story, copy the link of the video in the share menu via the corresponding button.
- Switch to Instagram and record the story you want to share with the link.
- Tap on the stickers and select “Link”.
- Here you can insert the link to the YouTube video and confirm via “Done”.
Posting YouTube videos in the feed: via detours
It is more difficult if you want to post a YouTube video directly in the Instagram feed so that it can be watched directly in the app. For this, the video must be available as a file.
- If you don’t have this, you have to download the YouTube video first. You can do this via YouTube Downloader.
- You can then post the video as a normal post by opening it in the gallery and selecting “Instagram” and “Feed” via the Share menu.
- Now you can set a caption or hashtags as usual and upload the video via the “Share” button.
- Be aware that you are not allowed to upload videos to Instagram that you do not have rights to.
