The GroupWatch feature allows you to host a watch party with up to six other friends on the Disney+ streaming service and watch films and series on the platform. We’ll tell you how you can use the Group Watch feature.
Start a watch party on Disney Plus: The GroupWatch feature
From October 2020, Disney+ subscribers will be able to stream movies and series together with their friends on the platform. It doesn’t matter where the individual participants of the watch party are or which device they use to stream. The only important thing is that all participants have a subscription to Disney+.
- If you want to start a watch party, first select a film or series that you want to watch together.
- Once you have selected the title, press the button with the three people for “Group Watch”. You can usually find this under the “Play” button, between the button for “Download” and the “Share” icon.
- Now you can invite up to six more people to join the watch party via messenger services, SMS or by email.
- Each participant is able to pause, fast-forward or rewind the stream for all of them.
- If something is particularly funny or sad, you can also react to the series or film with an emoji for everyone to see.
Requirements for a watch party
To make your watch party on Disney+ a complete success, you need to meet a few requirements.
- The terminal you choose has no effect on the use of watch parties via Disney+. So you can watch just as well on your smartphone as on your laptop or Smart TV.
- Each participant will need subscription access to Disney+.
- A stable internet connection is of course a basic requirement in order to be able to stream without interference.
