DHL is the parcel company of Deutsche Post – so only parcels are delivered here, not letters. The delivery time varies depending on the shipping method and distance.

• National domestic shipments are usually delivered to the recipient within one to two working days. For example, if you send a parcel on Monday morning, you can expect delivery on Tuesday or Wednesday.

• DHL does not guarantee delivery, which means that in individual cases delivery may take longer. As a rule, however, this does not give rise to any claims against DHL. However, the situation is different if you choose express delivery in an online store. Amazon Prime, for example, guarantees next-day delivery.

• Delivery usually takes place between 07:00 and 18:00 from Monday to Friday, depending on the district. On Saturday, DHL delivers from 08:00 to 18:00.

DHL wish package: What’s behind it

As the name suggests, you can make a few wishes with the DHL Wish Parcel. This includes the delivery location as well as the delivery time.

• The fact that you can have a DHL parcel sent to a neighbor or a parcel station is nothing new. What is new, however, is that DHL can now also deliver the parcel in the evening on request.

• You can have your DHL parcel delivered between 18:00 and 20:00 and between 19:00 and 21:00. However, DHL is initially only offering the evening service in 20 metropolitan areas. It should be available to customers there by the middle of this year.

• You can already use the DHL evening service if the online store has integrated it. However, there may be an extra charge for this service. Otherwise, you have the option of selecting evening delivery as soon as you have received the parcel’s tracking number.

• If you would like to send a parcel yourself and know that the recipient is only at home in the evening, you can also arrange for evening delivery. However, this requires that you frank the parcel online
