Identifying the caller: Telephone number identification with the Internet search
If you have received a call from an unknown number and you want to know who is behind it, you can do a reverse search on the Internet.
- Suitable websites are, for example, Das Örtliche or DasTelefonbuch. Enter the telephone number here. Many numbers are not listed, however, because the caller must have released his contact details on the page.
- Another possibility is the classic search via Google or portals like Tellows. This method is particularly helpful for advertising calls. Because often these numbers already have some bad reviews.
- In addition to websites, there are also special apps like Truecaller that give information about the caller. For this, you simply need to install the app and then you can search for the number.
Phone number identification via mailbox
To identify the caller behind a number, you can also call their mailbox directly. This way it does not ring there and you can hear the announcement text. The name of the owner is often mentioned here.
- For a direct call to the mailbox, you must find out the provider behind the number. This can be done using the area code.
- When you call back, you only have to insert the mailbox code between the area code and the number. This differs depending on the provider. For O2 and E-Plus 33, for Vodafone 50, for Telekom 13.
- If it is a Vodafone number, for example, 0174 50 12345678. When calling back, do not forget to suppress your call number.
