If you want to read out the hardware of your PC, there are several ways to do this. In this practical tip, we will introduce you to three possibilities.

Read out PC hardware with Windows

Windows has on-board tools with which you can read out the installed hardware.

  • Press the [Windows] and [R] keys simultaneously so that the “Run” command opens.
  • Enter “msinfo32” here and confirm with “OK”. Now the system information opens.
  • Here you get a detailed overview of the installed hardware. In the category “Software environment” you will also find the associated drivers and services.

    Alternatively, you can resort to a range of software.

    • A quite clear and detailed list is provided by the free programme HWiNFO32.
    • The tool CPU-Z focuses mainly on the data of the installed CPU. However, other important hardware is also listed here.
