You have a beamer and want to use it without a screen? We have summarised all the necessary information for you in this practical tip.

Using a projector without a screen – what you need to bear in mind

A normal wall can also be used for projecting with a beamer. However, you should keep a few things in mind so that the picture quality does not suffer too much:

  • The wall or wallpaper should be completely smooth. Woodchip wallpaper, for example, absorbs light and the image is distorted as a result.
  • Ideally, the background is white and reflects light. With a special projection paint, you can create a surface that reproduces good quality images. The paint can also be used on textiles or wood.
  • You can also paint a sheet with the paint and then use it as a canvas. However, the sheet should be stretched so that no wrinkles spoil the filming pleasure. The easiest way to do this is to make a frame out of wood and staple the sheet to it.
  • If you spend a lot of money on a beamer, however, you should sooner or later think about buying a screen. Roll-up screens are already available for under 100 euros.
