Mobile phone as a scale: inaccurate measurements are possible

In an emergency, you can use your smartphone as a makeshift scale, for example if you have no more batteries left for your kitchen scales.

  • All you need is a website or app that uses the fingerprint sensor in your smartphone. Most modern smartphones allow you to measure finger pressure to use the device.
  • The TouchScale page or App Digital Scale are suitable for this. The use is the same for most applications.
  • After opening the website or app, place the smartphone on a flat surface, for example your kitchen worktop. Then place the desired object for weight measurement on your smartphone.
  • You will now be shown an approximate weight. Smartphones do not usually have a function for measuring weights. This means that exact results are not possible.
  • Caution: Do not place wet or sharp objects on your smartphone. The measurement will also be more accurate the larger the area is when measuring.
