Facebook: Transfer pictures & videos to Google Photos – Here’s how

by Pramith

If you have shared your holiday pictures with friends on Facebook, you can easily add them to Google Photos afterwards. The advantage is that you can bring all your photos together in one cloud and find your favourite memories faster.

Transfer your photos from Facebook to Google Photos

You can share and save photos and videos with your friends and acquaintances on almost all social networks, for example Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Co. If you are logged in to several of these networks, it is sometimes difficult to keep track of where which photo is uploaded and stored. Google Photos can help you store your photos centrally in a cloud. If you have an Android phone, you may even already be signed in to Google Photos and have some pictures stored here.

How to make your Google account accessible from Facebook

To transfer your pictures and videos from Facebook to Google Photos, you need to allow Facebook access to your Google account. So you need access to your Facebook account and a Google account.

– Log in to Facebook. You can navigate to your Facebook settings by clicking on the small arrow in the top bar at the top right of your profile picture and then on the “Settings and Privacy” field.

– Select the menu item “Your Facebook Information” here on the right and click on “Download Your Information”.

– A new window will open. In three steps you can now select which content you want to transfer and where. In step 1, select “Google Photos” under Select destination and click on “Next step”.
Now you can decide, separately for your photos and videos, whether you want to transfer all media or only individual ones, or pictures and videos from a specific period. Then click on “Next step” again.

In step three, you will now be asked to establish a connection between Facebook and your Google account. By clicking on the “Connect and start transfer” box, a new window will open where you can log in to your Google account.

After successfully logging in, you will be asked to accept additional access rights for your Google Account from Facebook. Agree to these and click continue. You should now be taken back to Facebook where the automatic transfer of your photos and videos will begin.

– Depending on the amount of photos and videos, this may take some time. You can continue browsing Facebook during this time and will be notified once all media has been transferred.

– Once you have been notified that a copy of your photos and videos have been successfully transferred to Google, you can log out of Facebook and close the page. Your photos and videos are now also stored on Google Photos.
