Hermes: Refuse acceptance – This is how it works

by Johannes

If you receive a delivery from Hermes and would like to refuse it, you can simply refuse.

Hermes: How to refuse acceptance

If you receive a delivery from the parcel delivery company Hermes that you did not order, you can refuse it by telling the postman.

  • Refuse acceptance: You can refuse a delivery from Hermes by telling the delivery person. Do not sign anything. You do not need to give a reason either. If you want to refuse a delivery at your DHL Packstation, simply leave the parcel at the station. After the 7-day period has expired, the parcel will be returned to the sender.
  • Refused parcels: The sender has to bear the costs for the return shipment. If the sender refuses, the delivery will usually be scrapped.
  • Suspended delivery: Refusing delivery can be quite reasonable. Some companies ship unsold goods to random addresses to save on disposal costs. Often this kind of “disposal” works out because the addressees dispose of the goods themselves instead of refusing delivery.
