Many may wonder what happens at the end of “Tom and Jerry” and who comes out on top. The series has been around since the 1940s and there was the first ended in 1956 not many know what happened. But actually, the two were and have never been gone and so there are always new editions of the popular show.
What really happens at the end of Tom and Jerry
There are several seasons of the series Tom and Jerry with over 300 episodes. Again and again, new directors took on the two. In 2021 there was even a live-action film adaptation. There is therefore no real end to the story of the cat and the mouse, but the original version of the series actually had one last episode with a surprising ending.
- Originally, silent comedic shorts were produced for the cinema in the 1940s.
- The show is basically about Tom chasing Jerry every episode. Every now and then, new characters are introduced such as other mice or a bulldog.
- However, there is no consistent storyline leading up to a season finale.
- There was, however, an ending for them anyway in the final episode of the original series, which ended in 1956.
- In this episode, Tom the cat’s girlfriend has broken up with him. Out of desperation, he lies down on the tracks of an approaching train. Jerry takes pity on him and lies down with him. This ends this episode and shows that the two bitter rivals ended up being friends and neither triumphs over the other in the end.
- But that does not make them dead and forgotten. The two have become cult figures and will therefore live forever. This is also evident in the many new editions that have been produced since then.
