  • Wild mushrooms can be contaminated with radioactivity. Heavy metals also accumulate in mushrooms.
  • Wild mushrooms are also often enriched with eggs of the fox tapeworm.
  • These eggs contain haemolysins, which can attack your body’s red blood cells.

Better avoid mushrooms

During pregnancy, pay close attention to what you eat so as not to harm your baby.

  • If possible, avoid mushrooms so that you do as little harm as possible to yourself and your unborn baby.
  • Do not eat wild mushrooms, as they can contain many harmful substances.
  • If you still want to eat mushrooms, always go for cultivated mushrooms such as champignons.
  • Always be sure to wash mushrooms with water before eating.
  • Do not eat cultivated mushrooms raw either. Heat them sufficiently during preparation.
