EA Server down – what to do?

by Corinna

If the EA servers are down, gaming comes to an abrupt end. We explain how you can find out if the problem is really due to the servers and what you can do.

EA server down? This is how you find out

If a game or Origin is not accessible, the first assumption is often that the EA servers are down. Here’s how to check whether the problem is on EA’s side or on your internet connection.

  • If you have problems with an EA game, you should check the server status of the game, as EA’s games run on different servers. So if you have problems with Apex Legends, for example, check the EA page for Apex Legends.
  • If you are playing on a console, you can check the EA server status on this official EA website.
  • Live updates on server status are also available on Twitter. If Origin is down for maintenance, that’s the first place you’ll hear about it.
  • Connection problems don’t necessarily stem from provider downtime. Make sure you have internet yourself. For example, call up any website or start another service that only works online.
  • If you find a message that EA’s servers are down or undergoing maintenance, you can only wait and see. Alternatively, you can pass the time with an EA game that you can also play offline.
  • If this does not work, restart your PC or console. If there is still no connection, restart your router. Many problems can be solved with this simple step.
  • Firewall and anti-virus programmes can also cause connection problems. Therefore, create exceptions in the protection programmes for the games that need to access the EA servers. Alternatively, you can deactivate the protection programmes briefly. But don’t forget to turn them on again afterwards.
