by Pramith

You can easily connect your PS5 to a screen. All you need to know is which port on the console and which cable to use. You can also transfer the data from your PS4 to the new Playstation

Connecting the PS5: Here’s how

Before you can play the first games on your Playstation 5, you need to connect it to a screen.

  • The housing of the Playstation 5 has a total of six connections that are visible from the outside. On the back, you’ll find two USB-A ports, an Ethernet port and an HDMI port. On the front, there is one USB-A and one USB-C port. Inside the console there is also an SSD slot for an M.2 SSD.
  • Plug an HDMI cable into the HDMI port on the back. Connect the console to a screen by plugging the other end of the HDMI cable into its HDMI input. You may still need to select the appropriate HDMI input on your screen to see the Playstation’s picture. If you are playing on your TV, this will allow you to switch between the TV picture and the PS5.
  • In order to use your PS5, you now need to plug the power cable into the AC IN socket and the power adapter into a wall socket.
  • Then plug in your controller. Now you can start your Playstation.

Important first steps

When you start your Playstation 5 for the first time, there are a few things you need to do before you can start playing.

  • When you turn on your PS5 for the first time, you will need to follow the on-screen instructions to proceed. Among other things, you will be asked to select a language, read and accept the End User Agreement and set up an Internet connection.
  • If your Playstation has the latest firmware, you will be asked to log in to the Playstation Network. To do this, you can either sign in with an existing account or create a new one.
  • Before you start playing, you can transfer data and games from your old PS4 to the new console. To do this, you can connect your two consoles either with the same WLAN or with a LAN cable. Make sure that the respective game is compatible with the PS5.
  • On your PS5, you can then go to Settings ☻ System ☻ System Software ☻ Data Transfer ☻ Continue and select your PS4. When Prepare for Data Transfer appears on your PS5, press and hold the Power button on the PS4 until you hear a beep. You can then select the data you want to transfer on the PS5.
  • If you do not have enough space on the console, you can expand the memory of the PS5. You can do this both externally and internally.
