Intel Optane is an improved memory technology from Intel.

  • Intel Optane is inserted between the processor and the hard disk. The technology speeds up frequently recurring processes because it is quasi adaptive.
  • Intel Optane remembers which programmes the user uses frequently or which files are accessed often. Intel Optane then keeps the data on the applications or files ready, similar to a cache. In this way, they are loaded more quickly.
  • This works because the technology connects the computer’s memory to the hard drive via a virtual drive that is only visible to the PC.
  • In principle, it does not matter whether it is an SSD or an HDD hard disk.
  • Example: If Intel Optane detects that you start the Word programme very often, all the necessary files are already in the memory and can be loaded quickly from there.
    • In principle, Intel Optane works like a very intelligent, smart fridge: if the fridge notices that you make your own pizza every weekend, it orders in advance and

    • For the technology to work, some requirements must be met.
    • Not every mainboard is compatible with Intel Optane. The same applies to the hard disks connected: Not every one supports the technology.
