NFC rings: payment made easy
An NFC ring is a ring that is equipped with an NFC chip.
- This chip allows you to use the NFC ring like a smartphone or bank card with a chip for cashless and contactless payments. No other devices are needed.
- Payment is made by holding the ring with the outside against the payment terminal. Payment is made without entering a PIN.
- As a rule, the rings are designed for smaller amounts, to be used primarily for shopping. You can, of course, adjust possible limits yourself.
- Depending on the model, you can use NFC rings for more than just payment. They can replace your front door key, be used as a digital business card or be used to unlock your smartphone.
NFC ring: What to consider when setting it up
If you are interested in getting an NFC ring, there are certain points you need to keep in mind while setting it up:
- You will need a credit or debit card with a specific bank to set it up. This is specified by the manufacturer of the NFC ring.
- Further, the rings use different methods to pair them with the desired card. Often you can do this yourself via the manufacturer’s app. For this, the smartphone or tablet must also be NFC-enabled.
- A direct link is also offered when purchasing the NFC ring. You purchase the ring with the card you want to use for contactless payment. This gives you it for immediate use.
