Steam Deck: All connections explained

The various connections of the Steam Deck are used as follows:

  • The USB Type C (USB 3.2 Gen. 2) port is used for charging, connecting to the docking station and monitors. The port features DisplayPort 1.4 and enables resolutions of 8K (60 Hz) and 4K (120 Hz).
  • The microSD card slot allows you to expand the Steam Deck’s memory and transfer data. It is a UHS-I BUS that supports SD, SDXC and SDHC.

  • If you purchase the docking station, it has 3 x USB A 3.1 Gen 1 ports for peripherals such as controllers or keyboards, as well as a Gigabit Ethernet port for high-speed internet. The docking station is powered via the USB-C port (pass-through charging function).
  • An external display is connected to the docking station via the DisplayPort 1.4- and
  • HDMI 2.0 connection. They enable resolutions of 4K (60Hz) and 1,440 p (120Hz). Multiple monitors at the same time are supported via MST (Multi-Stream Transport).
