The Xiaomi Watch S1 supports the display of WhatsApp messages. To be able to use the messenger, you have to activate the notifications beforehand
Enable WhatsApp for the Xiaomi Watch S1
To view WhatsApp notification on your Xiaomi Watch S1, you need to pair your smartphone with the smartwatch. The Mi Fitness app is suitable for this, which should ideally be up to date.
- Once the smartwatch is paired, open the Mi Fitness app on your smartphone. Navigate to the devices at the bottom. Tap the icon.
- Now you will see the paired devices. Select the Xiaomi Watch S1 and then select the app notifications.
- The next item is especially important for WhatsApp push notifications to arrive at all. As soon as you open the notification menu, a pop-up appears the first time you use it.
- You will be prompted to enable permissions for the app to send push notifications to the Smartwatch. Confirm this prompt to receive unrestricted WhatsApp notifications.
- After confirming, activate the app notifications via the slider. You will be presented with an app list from which you select WhatsApp. Now you will receive push messages from WhatsApp to your S1.
- Tip: If you need to change the app permissions afterwards, you will find an option for this in the app settings of your smartphone. This allows you to adjust the individual permissions in order to receive the push notifications.
Limited function of WhatsApp on Xiaomi Watch S1
If you want to use WhatsApp with your Xiaomi Watch S1, you need to be aware of the feature set.
- WhatsApp only notifies you of messages received via a push notification. You cannot reply via the smartwatch, you still need your smartphone for that.
- Voice and video chats as well as the creation of groups or the start of new chats are not possible. Furthermore, no pictures, videos or voice messages are transmitted, emojis only as a slimmed-down version. You will only receive information about the content and length.
- Configuration options are not available for WhatsApp on the smartwatch. Received push notifications can only be swiped away. The range of functions is reduced to the push notifications.
