Chatbot ChatGPT has been available to try out for free since November 2022. To use it, you only need an email address to register. Immediately after registering, you can get started and chat with the chatbot.
How easy it is to try out ChatGPT
Just a few steps will take you to ChatGPT and a first conversation with the bot, which is built on machine learning:
- Go to the chat.openai.com website and click on “Register” or “Sign up”.
- Then enter your e-mail address and a password of your choice. These are now your log-in details.
- Alternatively, you can also log in with an existing Google or Microsoft account. In this case, you do not need to set a new password.
- Once you have logged in, you can enter a question or command in the bottom bar. When you submit your request, ChatGPT will respond to it.
- The AI knows several languages and should answer you in German if your question was formulated in that language. Otherwise, you can ask the bot to write to you in German.
- On the left side you can see your chat histories and also delete them by clicking on the X symbol.
This is what you should keep in mind when using ChatGPT
Since ChatGPT is still a prototype, not everything always works smoothly.
- The AI only has the knowledge fed into it until 2021. Any knowledge beyond that is uncertain.
- Occasionally ChatGPT mixes up information and may inadvertently generate Fake News. From time to time, responses may also be deficient in content or language.
- Be aware that ChatGPT is not only subject to content errors. You also can’t be sure if the AI has taken the words exactly from a source, thus violating copyright law.
- Furthermore, if the load is too high, the bot crashes and then does not answer you at first.
