How to view WhatsApp status anonymously
You can view the WhatsApp status of your friends or acquaintances anonymously. With the status, WhatsApp has set up a similar format to Stories on Facebook and Instagram. For 24 hours, shared photos and videos are visible to all contacts. The story creator can see who has viewed them.
- Not, however, if you deactivate the read receipt. This means that WhatsApp no longer shows the sender of a message that you have read it. Also, when you open the status page, your activity on it will not be shown.
- But if you want to continue receiving read receipts yourself, you can also view uploaded stories in aeroplane mode, i.e. offline. Important: Delete the app before you go back online. Otherwise a read receipt will be sent. You can reinstall the app again.
- You can also view the status anonymously via WhatsApp Web. Open your web browser in incognito mode and download the web version of WhatsApp. Open the status page and go offline. Now you are anonymous. However, you will only see the text and a blurred version of the uploaded photos and videos.
- As a last option, you can use the file explorer. WhatsApp saves the shared data on your phone under the folder WhatsApp\ Media\ .Statuses. This allows you to view photos and videos anonymously.
- Conversely, you may have long been blocked by others on WhatsApp without realising it. Fortunately, you can check which contacts are blocked. The correct use of WhatsApp needs to be learned anyway, otherwise it can quickly become embarrassing if, for example, the emojis are not used correctly.
