WD My Cloud: How high is the power consumption?

The more storage a WD My Cloud offers, the higher the power consumption usually is. The electricity costs were calculated using the current average price of around 37 cents per kWh (as of August 2022).

  • The WD My Cloud 2TB consumes 5.0 watts in standby, 8.4 watts in idle mode and 10.6 watts in operation. Calculated over the entire year, it costs 16.20 euros to operate in standby mode and 27.23 euros in sleep mode.
  • The WD My Cloud Mirror 4TB sucks 5.9 watts out of the socket in standby. In idle mode it is 11.7 watts, in operation 14.8 watts. This results in annual electricity costs of 19.12 euros in standby and 37.92 euros in idle mode.
  • The WD My Cloud EX4100 already consumes 12.8 watts in standby. In sleep mode, 24.9 watts are consumed and 26.8 watts in operation. The electricity costs per year in standby are 41.49 euros, in sleep mode 80.71 euros.
