Samsung Galaxy Tab no longer turns on – what to do

If your Samsung Galaxy Tab no longer starts up, there is not necessarily a defect. The following measures can usually solve the problem.

  • The battery may not be charged. Therefore, connect the tablet to the power supply and then try to start it. If the tablet has not been connected to the power supply for a long time, it may take longer for it to come back to life and for the charging bar to appear.
  • If the tablet still does not charge, there may be a fault with the cable. A cable break cannot always be detected from the outside. You should therefore replace it
  • In some cases, it also helps if you press and hold the [Power] switch for several seconds. However, before you perform this step, you should connect the tablet to the charging cable for a few minutes.
  • You can try to restore the Samsung Galaxy Tab on the PC. Connect it to the PC via USB and load and open the Kies program if it is an older tablet with Android up to version 4.2.2. The tablet should be recognized there. For newer Android versions, you will need the Samsung Smart Switch tool
  • Alternatively, you can also use the recovery mode to reset the Galaxy Tab. To do this, press the Home button and the volume up button at the same time. Use the volume buttons to select the “wipedate/ factory reset” option and confirm with the power button. Then select “wipe cache partition” and confirm again. Finally, select “reboot system now” and confirm. The tab should now restart
  • If these tips are unsuccessful, the fault may be more serious and you should replace the device.
  • If you still have warranty claims, make use of them. You normally have a two-year warranty from the date of purchase. Proof of purchase is recommended.
