Cooking eggs in the air fryer – how it works

Cooking eggs in the air fryer is a smart way to do without a stove, saucepan, water and egg spoon

Cooking eggs in the hot air fryer in just a few minutes

Cooking eggs is a science in itself. There is much debate as to which method is best for achieving perfectly soft, waxy or hard-boiled eggs. You may have already heard that eggs can be cooked in the microwave. Now there’s a new option that you may not even have considered: Your hot air fryer. It’s worth trying out!

  • Take the eggs out of the fridge and place them in the basket of the air fryer with a little space between them
  • Push the basket carefully into the deep fryer so that the eggs do not curl up.
  • Set 170 degrees in the temperature selection. Select the minutes according to the desired egg hardness and, of course, the egg size.
  • For eggs in size class L, you need the following cooking times: 7 minutes for a soft yolk, 8 minutes for a soft-boiled egg and around 10 minutes for a hard-boiled egg.
  • For eggs in size class M, reduce the cooking times by about 1 minute in each case. If the eggs are not cooled when they enter the appliance, this must also be taken into account by heating them for about one minute less.
  • Important: Once the cooking time has elapsed, please do not ignore the signal from the air fryer. Rinse the eggs with cold water immediately after cooking to prevent them from becoming even firmer. Rapid cooling also makes it easier to peel the eggs cleanly.

Cooking eggs in the hot air fryer offers advantages

The most important prerequisite for cooking eggs in a hot air fryer: you must own such an appliance. And that’s it already. There are clear advantages that make it easy to decide against using a saucepan the next time you cook eggs.

  • The eggs do not need to be taken out of the fridge before cooking. They go straight into the deep fryer chilled. This saves time
  • The eggs do not risk cracking. There is no need to prick them with an egg pricker. It’s usually lost in the middle of nowhere in the kitchen anyway. You no longer need to worry about it
  • If you do not preheat the hot-air fryer, this method of cooking eggs is relatively energy-saving, as the power consumption of the appliances is usually quite low.
  • Versatility of the appliance: A hot air fryer can be used to prepare a variety of tasty treats. You don’t need to buy a specialized egg stove unless you need to cook a lot of eggs very frequently as standard.
  • One small disadvantage: Depending on the hot air fryer, the inside of the egg may not cook completely evenly. For example, the egg yolk may solidify slightly on one side, while some watery liquid remains in the lower part of the egg, where the air is located
