TikTok account suspended: What you can do – reasons and solution

by Pramith

If you can no longer access TikTok, your account has probably been locked. This can have various reasons, but you can also unlock your account again

That’s why your TikTok account is locked

TikTok suspends accounts of users if they have violated the community guidelines. This is likely to be the case with your account as well. You can violate the guidelines in several ways.

  • The minimum age for TikTok in Germany is 13. However, some features of the app are only allowed for older people. For example, you can’t access direct messages until you’re 16, and you can’t use livestreams, send gifts to other users through it, and use monetization until you’re 18.
  • Hate speech or hateful behavior, such as against religions, ethnic groups, or sexual orientations, is prohibited on TikTok. This includes violent organizations or individuals, as well as their support.
  • Minors shall be especially protected on TikTok, which is why exploitation and abuse of minors is sanctioned with a ban. The same applies to sexual or gender-based violence. Exploitation, harassment, and bullying will not be tolerated, and this applies in all areas of the app, including videos, comments, and stitches.
  • At a minimum, any depiction or promotion of suicide, self-harm, eating disorders, or dangerous acts such as dares or other challenges will be age-restricted. However, such content may also result in account suspension.
  • Fake news is also not welcome on the platform. This also applies to political promotion and advertising, stolen content and spam.
  • Advertising on TikTok is only allowed for certain products and services. Excluded are gambling, tobacco, drugs, weapons, unbranded advertising and fraud.
  • In terms of privacy, you may not post personal information that could lead to violence, stalking, identity theft, or the like. Illegal access to data from TikTok is also prohibited.

How to undo a block on TikTok

If your account has been locked on TikTok, you will get a notification on your device. You can contact the platform about it.

  • Tap on the notification you received due to the suspension of your account.
  • Go to “Appeal” and follow the instructions that appear.
  • If the first steps did not lead to success, you can also try the TikTok Help Center. Describe your problem as precisely as possible in the input field. Optionally, you can upload files such as screenshots.
  • Tap on “Submit” to report the problem. After some time, you should receive a response from support.
