Outlook: Sent emails are not displayed – what you can do

There can be various reasons why sent emails are not displayed in Outlook. It is often because your mail has not yet been sent

Sent mails are not displayed in Outlook: How to solve the problem

When you send an email in Outlook, it is normally displayed in the “Sent items” folder. If it does not appear there, it may be that your e-mail could not be sent. The reason for this is usually that there is no connection to the Internet. If this is the case, the email will be moved to the outbox. As soon as the Internet is working again, your e-mail will be sent and should then also be visible in the sent e-mails folder. Another reason for the problem may be that your sent mail was sent a long time ago. Sent emails are often only synchronized in Outlook for a certain period of time. You can define this period yourself in Outlook.

  • To do this, click on “File” and expand the “Account settings” item. Select “Account settings…” again.
  • Select your email account in the table and click on “Change…”.
  • Using the slider under “Emails in offline mode”, you can specify how long emails should be saved and displayed offline.
  • Set a longer interval here and confirm by clicking on “Next” and “Finish”.

Sent mails are still not displayed: Further solutions

If your sent mails are still not displayed, this may also be due to an incorrect setting in Outlook. For example, sent emails may not be saved automatically in the corresponding folder.

  • To check this, click on “File” in Outlook and select “Options”.
  • Click on “E-mail” in the menu on the left.
  • Scroll down to “Save messages”. Here, make sure that the option “Save message copies in the ‘Sent items’ folder” is activated.
  • Confirm by clicking on “OK”.
  • If the option was already activated, your sent mails may have been deleted by mistake. Check the recycle bin in Outlook. If you find your emails there, you can restore the deleted items in just a few steps.
