Apple Watch not charging: What you can do

by Pramith

If the Apple Watch is not charging, this can be due to various causes. We explain in detail what these are and what you can do to fix the problem.

Apple Watch won’t charge – here’s how to fix the problem

If your Apple Watch is empty, you can charge it via the magnetic charging cable or dock. A green flash will then appear on the display. If it does not, follow these steps:

  • First, make sure the charging cable is plugged into the power adapter and properly docked to the Apple Watch. The power adapter should also be fully plugged into a power outlet.
  • Furthermore, it is important that you use genuine Apple accessories. Charging cables and power adapters from other suppliers are sometimes not supported.
  • Sometimes a defective multiple socket can also be the reason that devices do not charge. Try changing the power socket.
  • Make sure the charger and Apple Watch are not dirty and remove any protective film.

What else you can do if your Apple Watch won’t charge

If the above steps do not help, you should restart the Apple Watch.

– You can do this with a hard reset by pressing the elongated side button and the wheel at the same time for 10 seconds. Then try charging the Apple Watch again.

– Furthermore, it may help if you unpair your Apple Watch and iPhone. This can be done via the Watch app on your smartphone.
The last step is to reset the Apple Watch to its factory settings.

– If all points have failed, there is probably a technical defect. In this case, it is advisable to call the Apple Support Hotline.
