If your mobile phone cannot call or be called, there are certain causes that can be behind it. We explain what you can do in such a case.
Calls do not go through: Network outages at certain times and on public holidays
On days like New Year’s Day (New Year’s Eve) or Christmas, your mobile phone may seem unable to receive or send calls or messages. This is because a lot of people use the network at the same time on these days, resulting in an overload. The only thing that really helps here is to wait and see. Most of the time, such a disturbance subsides within five to ten minutes and you can then try to send your New Year’s greetings again later.
Calls do not arrive – what you can do
If there is a widespread fault, you can usually only wait and see. You can check whether you are affected by a widespread problem at Allestörungen.de. If the reports about your network provider accumulate, the problem lies with the provider. If this is not the case, take the following steps:
- First check whether you have a sufficiently strong network and whether you have not inadvertently placed the caller on the barred list.
- Restart your mobile phone. Many problems can often be fixed by doing this.
- Check whether you have set a call diversion. In such cases, you should deactivate all call diversions.
- Make sure that call forwarding to your mailbox is working properly. Some providers have the option to forward calls to the mailbox in general. In this case, you can change this in the customer portal of your network provider or contact the provider directly.
- If nothing has helped yet, switch off your Android smartphone, press and hold the Power Home button and the Volume Up button at the same time until you are in Recovery mode. Navigate to the item “Wipe Cache Partition” with the volume up and down button and confirm this with the power button. Then restart your device.
- If this does not work either, try using a different SIM card in your phone. If this is the case, contact your provider. There is probably something wrong with your card.
WhatsApp calls are not getting through – what you can do
Speech calls via WhatsApp are becoming increasingly popular. All the more annoying when they don’t work. Here’s what you can do in such a case:
- First check whether you have a good enough internet connection. This is important because all calls to WhatsApp go through the internet.
- Also, you may have been blocked by the contact you want to call. So your calls will not get through either and will not be shown to them in the first place.
- Restart your mobile phone. Many problems can often be solved by doing this.
- Check whether you have the latest WhatsApp version. If you haven’t updated the messenger app in a while, you should open the Google Play Store or Apple Store and download the latest version of the app.
- If none of the possibilities apply, it is also possible that there is a fault with WhatsApp. In this case, there is nothing you can do and you will have to wait until the fault is fixed.
